Jingle Jingle

2024 is almost over and, that means we’re deep into the Christmas season! Last year Kevin and I decided to put together a Christmas album with a little soul. This year we thought it would be fun to put together a sweet and fun EP we named ‘Jingle Jingle’. True to form, we’re bringing you a heavy dose of retro 80s with more of a pop feel.

We kick things off with ‘Seasons’ Greetings’ a song about looking forward to Christmas and wishing that everyone you love could be there to celebrate the holidays together. Kevin produced a happy-go-lucky instrumental laced with shimmering synths with an mid-tempo to upbeat feel. This one brought out my youthful and joyous side when writing and singing it. Something about his production made it hard not to smile throughout the creation process.

‘Jingle Jingle’, the title track has a classic synth pop vibe full of charm and romance. I sing about wanting to be alone with your special someone by the tree. This time of year many people will be enjoying their first with someone special or, it may be your favourite holiday with your other half. I wanted this one to feel sugary sweet and cute! Easy to achieve when Kevin comes with this sort of soundscape to write to!

As much as I love Christmas, I know that many people really struggle this time of year. ‘Through The Night’ is my story song on the EP. I imagined someone phoning home to check in with their family member or friend who hates the holiday. In my mind this person was cheated on and left for someone else with everything reminding them of that pain. Some years they want to be alone and others, they want company. This is about taking a long drive into the night to get back just in time for Christmas day.

Wrapping things up we have ‘Paint The Town’. This is all about feeling festive and getting into the spirit of Christmas. Wanting to enjoy everything that’s going on, all the sights, sounds, tastes, smells, the music…
This is about getting dressed up and enjoying everything festive out on the town!
