Reeve Stimpson!

|

Kudos to social media advertising! No seriously, a simple instagram ad introduced me to the awesome guy that is Reeve Stimpson! The video clip had a nod to Tom Cruise in Risky business showing Reeve sliding into the room in the classic white shirt and boxers, only unlike Tom he can seriously sing! True to form, I dropped him a message to give him some flowers and let him know that I’ll be keeping an eye open for his upcoming music releases and we got talking exchanging musical compliments and anecdotes.

So let me give you the lowdown, Reeve is a Virginia born guy who recently moved to Nashville to create music but, with the town being saturated in country music he wanted to carve out his own space and began creating lush 80s inspired pop tracks. You gotta love a singer/songwriter who’s fun, friendly, cool and does their own thing. What I love about his look and sound is that he isn’t falling into that typical Synthwave space but, brings a modern take to the sort of Pop/Rock sounds we love from Bryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Richard Marx and Don Henley.

His new single ‘Over Me’ is a happy-go-lucky summer track and in Reeve’s own words,  “Over Me is all about the all too familiar feeling most of us have about seeing someone so attractive that in order to be with them we’d let them completely destroy us.  I wanted it to be a fun take on the idea instead of a depressing song about letting someone take a hold of your life, it’s more of the feeling that someone strikes you instantly when you see them for the first time that they steal your attention. The video for this was so much fun to put together and I got a chance to work with some incredible people including our director “Mike Overton” and Director of Photography “Sam Robinson” both of which I found in the credits of a video they did together for an artist named Spencer Sutherland.  I wanted to incorporate as many 80’s references that would be subtle but recognizable to the fans of MTV Classics like “Huey Lewis and the News” If this is it, & “Billy Joel’s” Uptown Girl.”

The new video is awesome! Don’t take my word for it, check it out:

There is a bright future in store for him and if you wanted to know what’s coming next he tells me “I’ve been working on this full 80’s project all this year and I’m releasing new music almost every month this year about every 4-6 weeks all leading up to the release of the debut album and first tour.” Be sure to follow him on instagram and on your chosen streaming platform for updates.

You won’t be disappointed!
