Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
There is nothing cooler in my opinion than a music act that have their own look, sound, have a unique vibe and are unapologetically themselves! One such act is Brighter Than A Thousand Suns! I admit i’m late to the party where they are concerned but, it really is a case of better late than never! We became aquatinted at the start of the year and my goodness am I pleased about that!
We have a few cool duos in the synthwave scene but, how many can we say are a super funky married couple who don some of the sickest hairstyles, fashions and sound absolutely fabulous?! The beautiful Angelika is the main vocalist and her voice is super cool. I really appreciate her arrangements vocally too as she, like me loves to stack her voice with tons of layers and harmonies. I believe I have caught some really intricate 5 part ones from her and they sound incredible! Take a look a their Instagram page too and you’ll see her knocking out some serious drum beats and keyboard parts in addition to singing up a storm.
Randy is a genius behind those analog synths as well as the guitarist and programmer for the band. I LOVE his approach when to comes to layering sounds. He has created many a thick and dirty baseline (everyone knows how I dig a dirty bass sound) which of course sound phenomenal! If you want a bit of a deep dive into how some of the songs have come together you have to check out their IG. You’ll see some awesome footage of the couple jamming in their studio and creating many of the songs I have become hooked on! Randy and Angelika know exactly how to blend really intricate and complex sounds together that will no doubt take you on a sonic journey!
Their sound is Synthpop laced with pure electronic chaos and I love it! Stacks of analog synth sounds, pumping drums, guitars and so much more! They really bring the 80s sounds we love into a whole new dimension that is totally out of this world!
The new album ‘Truth To Materials’ just dropped and it’s all kinds of awesome! Be sure to give it a listen guys and check out their Bandcamp!
