Syst3m Glitch – The Brave Ones
Some people are destined to create beautiful things and one such person is my friend Bobby aka Syst3m Glitch.
I first met Bobby over of the socials a few years ago and instantly fell in love with his music. ‘Raining In Tokyo’ (featuring Dimi Kaye) was the first song I heard of his and, several years on it still remains a favourite of mine! Following this release we’ve been blessed with many hits and collabs laced with Glitch Goodness such as ‘Beyond Stars’ his last album. Fun fact, I’m doing part of the news report in the intro!
Over the years Bobby has been one of those people to constantly push for greatness in his music whether he’s doing a remix for someone, dropping vocals on a song or doing it all from production, mastering or even making music for video games! I’ve been blessed to call him a friend and have to give him his flowers for inspiring me in more ways than he knows musically.
I am so chuffed to finally be able to enjoy his latest album ‘The Brave Ones’, also his first with New Retro Wave. He previewed some of the tracks to me a while back and I was floored by the sonic brilliance, creativity and freshness he was bringing to a scene full of nostalgia and memory. Hearing it all once again it sounds so fresh! We hear a story book of songs about romance, adventure and excitement. My personal favourites are of course the re-worked version of ‘Raining In Tokyo’, ‘California’ and his cover of ‘Rewrite The Stars’ (a beautiful duet with his awesome wife Kati).
‘Tommy Danger’ is a seriously slick instrumental song that paints images in the mind of the young couple facing some dangerous times and speeding through traffic in a getaway vehicle! At least that’s what I visualise when I hear it! The haunting violins, throbbing arpeggios, dramatic pads or wisps of cool sound effects is just everything! The last song to take me on such a journey as this was ‘Expanse’ from his last album!
‘Rose Petals (Rebecca)’ with Shadowrunner is just lush! This one is definitely a soundtrack worthy song and makes for a beautiful jazzy ballad. Soft vocals over smooth padded chords and a sax is just special!
You gotta check out this album! It’s available on all streaming services but of course you can pick it up on Vinyl, Casette and CD right here!
